Timeline of Truborn Press

I thought it would be helpful to have an entry dedicated to the “herstory” of Truborn Press (‘TBP’) and some details about my company. I have seen online people (rightfully so) asking about Truborn and working with us…unfortunately with the internet being a mish mosh of information, people were sharing details that were not correct. Here’s a quick timeline with details that will hopefully help clear up any confusion especially for people who weren’t around for the start of my publishing house.

  • Summer/Fall 2023: I discussed joining up with Darklit Press ('DLP’) and be an imprint to them, along with Hedone Books (‘HB’).

  • Fall/Winter 2023: I asked Kenya Moss-Dyme to be my first published book.

  • End of 2023/Start of 2024: Continued to work with DLP and HB in preparation of announcing the creation of TBP.

  • Spring/Summer of 2024: Announcement went well but the original owner/EIC of DLP decided to step away and leave DLP to the owner of HB. They worked closely together but I was off on my own from the start.

  • Summer ‘24: The major downfall of DLP and publishing drama/conflicts. Luckily, I wasn’t involved in any of the financial situations with DLP and HB. After seeing the negative effects and sketchy workings from my counterparts, I decided to separate and become my own entity.

  • End of Summer ‘24: I officially became an LLC in the state of Washington. I also released my first publication, Progeny by Kenya Moss-Dyme.

  • Fall ‘24: I signed a few authors and continued to work solo at TBP. *I never published any work with/through/under the name of Darklit Press or Hedone Books.

  • Oct. ‘24: Published A Bad Case of Tinnitus by Tony Evans

  • Jan. ‘25: Published Metamorphosis by Ross Jeffery

  • Mar. ‘25: Published PUNK goes HORROR: Anthology w/William Sterling

  • June. ‘25: Published Indentured by David-Jack Fletcher

  • Aug. ‘25: Celebrated 1 Year LLC Birthday.

  • Sep. ‘25: Published Where the Soul Goes by Katherine Silva

  • Oct. ‘25: *Scheduled to publish The Violet Glow of the Daytens by Radar DeBoard

  • Nov. ‘25: *Scheduled to publish These Are Not My Final Words by Samantha Ryan

  • Jan. ‘26: *Scheduled to publish The Swallowed Town by C.F. Page

  • Spring ‘26: *Scheduled to publish The Instruction Manual to Being a Vampire by Craig Wallwork

  • Summer ‘26: *Scheduled to publish The Boy at No. 9 Whitlock by L. Stephenson

    **More announcements to come**

During this timeframe I also purchased and released short stories that I accepted from a submission call in my newsletters for readers. I had a submission call also for extreme horror from authors who identify as women or were non-binary. I also took part of the #SmallPitch event and reached out to those authors.

When I first joined DLP and HB, I was more categorized as ‘weird horror’ while DLP was ‘general horror’ and HB is ‘erotica horror’. Now that I have been my own publishing house I have leaned more into the strange and weird fiction and not JUST weird horror.

Even though horror is my love, I am completely open to literary fiction/sci-fi/thriller that has strange elements throughout the stories. I care mostly about a good story, not just meeting certain genre tropes.

If you have any questions at all, please reach out to me via email or social media. I’m transparent with my work and publishing process.

    Embrace Your Strange,
    Kristina Osborn
    Owner/EIC of Truborn Press
