January 2026 Wrap-Up
JANUARY…WTF WAS THAT?!
NO ICE.
This month has been a mess because of the world we are in. I really try hard to stay positive and keep my chin up but all this senseless hate/murders is taxing.
If you didn’t already know, Truborn is absolutely against ICE, the shitshow of a government, billionaire rapists and innocent people disappearing. As an elder millennial, I am so tired of the unease and hate I’ve witnessed the majority of my life.
ANYWAYS….
January is normally half reset, half survival mode. But I’m atleast happy with how 2026 is already shaping up for Truborn Press, so I wanted to do a quick wrap-up before we slip further into February.
NEW YEAR, NEW RELEASE
We kicked off the year with a brand-new release, The Swallowed Town by C.F. Page, and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start of a publishing year. The reception so far has been genuinely encouraging. Seeing readers get excited about this book has been incredibly rewarding, especially after how much care went into bringing it into the world.
Here are a few early blurbs and reactions. More to come.
“Bold, verbose, and with a style that’s equally hallucinogenic and idiosyncratic, Page’s The Swallowed Town is a multi-layered coastal horror nightmare.”
“Intricately designed and aesthetically ominous. Brooding and mystical. The Southern Reach Trilogy meets House of Leaves meets The Lighthouse.”
“Page’s writing is much like Lovecraft’s oceans: glassy smooth in places, terrifyingly brutal in others, ever dark and full of mystery.”
LIBRARY LOVE
Another big milestone for me this month was seeing Truborn Press titles officially make their way into libraries and onto Libby. This has been a long-term goal of mine, and finally seeing it happen feels surreal. Accessibility matters to me a lot, and knowing readers can discover our books through their local libraries is something I’m incredibly proud of.
THE REVEAL OF COVERS
We also have an upcoming cover reveal for The Instruction Manual to Being a Vampire by Craig Wallwork. This one is sharp and bloody unhinged in the best way. I’m really excited to finally share the cover and more details very soon.
BIRTHING NEW WEIRD
Behind the scenes, I’ve also been busy signing new authors. I can’t announce anything just yet, but I promise there are some gross stuff is coming. Think body horror, the sads and all the weird. If you’ve been following Truborn Press for a while, I think you’ll like what’s ahead.
SUBMISSION CALL - 2/6/26
Looking forward, our next BIPOC-only submission call opens on February 6, 2026. We’ll be looking specifically for novellas. More details will be shared closer to the open date, but I wanted to make sure to remind you all about it so you are ready to send me all the crazy stories.
CONVENTION SEASON BAY-BAY!
On a more personal note, I’ll be traveling to Scares That Care: AuthorCon in Virginia at the end of this month. I won’t have a table this year, but I’ll be there to relax, network and connect with authors, publishers, plus readers. If you see me wandering around, please say hi. I love catching up with people and making new friends.
SWAGGGGG!
Lastly, Truborn Press swag is still available on the website for anyone who wants to rep the press. Hoodies and shirts are live over there and help support what we’re building.
January felt like a solid first step for us going into 2026. More books, community and strange stories ahead.
As always, thank you for being here.
